The slits on the side of your dog’s nose this where they exhale, and the rounded nostrils is where they inhale new air.
Dogs can also use each nostril individually. They wiggle their nose while breathing to push back the new air.
When dogs sniff, they keep the chosen scent they inhale locked in the back of their nose, the unwanted scent is then exhaled.
